Dandruff – Is it cool in Westeros?
The numbers are out, folks!
No more excuses, we need to find a remedy.
Dandruff – Who´s this funny fellow?
Dandruff it’s a skin scalp condition, luckily it’s completely harmless (if public shame can be considered so).
Studies report that every fifth Dane suffers from dandruff, both men and women. Nevertheless, men get more frequently dandruff due to the production of testosterone that stimulates scalp sebum. So if you are affected by it, you suffer from the overgrowth of a yeast-like fungus known as Malassezia globosa, that feeds off of the skin’s sebum and secretes bi-products onto the scalp which can irritate the skin, resulting in symptoms like dryness, itching, and flaking.
But I have read it is caused by stress!
No, stress can only aggravate a dandruff skin condition in those who already deal with it. But it doesn’t hurt to stay cool, like Jon does.
How do I get rid of this unwanted guest?
Get yourself a specialized treatment shampoo containing zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide. These anti-dandruff ingredients help slow down the rate at which your skin cells die and shed off. If used frequently this will, in most cases, eliminate the problem.
So I will never get dandruff again, right?
Sorry mate, but once you mange to get rid of it, you need to keep preventing it. Unfortunately skin conditions can be highly recidivous, and ignoring the problem may lead to a real scalp storm, hopefully without any white walkers, though.*read more about how to prevent our dandruff friend to come back in NordicMan next article
